CAPACITY BUILDING FOR ASSEMBLY MEMBERS

A two-day capacity building workshop was conducted for the Assembly Members of the District from 25th-26th June, 2020. The program was aimed at educating and apprising the Hon Assembly Members and the Government Appointees on the New Local Governance Act (Act 963) and the Standing Orders.

The training was executed by Savanna Planners Limited, a consultancy firm with expertise on the Local Governance Act and Administration. Mr. Al-hassan Ziblin Alhassan was the conductor of the training.

Forty-three (43) appointed and elected Assembly Members of the District Assembly were at the training. This shows the commitment by the Hon Assembly members to familiarize themselves with the Local Governance Act and the Standing Orders.

As a proof of participation, the consultancy issued Certificate of Participation to the Hon Assembly Members.

The program was graced by the presence of the District Chief Executive of North Tongu District, Hon Richard Collins Arku and the District Coordinating Director, Mr. Awal Suhuyini.

The Hon DCE addressed the house on the importance of such a training program. He added that, the capacity building will help the Honorable Assembly Members with the day-to-day governance of their electoral areas and also make informed inputs during General Assemly meetings of the District Assembly.

At the end of the event, the Hon Assembly Members thanked the District Assembly and the consultancy firm for an educative and informative workshop.
